Kuwait: Al-Subeeh receives excellence award

DUBAI: The Middle East Excellence Award Institute honored two Kuwaiti figures, Minister of Education and Higher Education Nouriya Al-Subeeh who won the seventh award for businesswomen and leaders as the top distinguished woman personality in the educational sector 2008, and Safaa Al-Hashim as best businesswoman 2008.

That came during a celebration held late on Saturday in the top-star Burj Al-Arab Hotel, attended by leading women figures, like Former Irish Prime Minister Mary Robinson, and Former Iranian Vice President Maasouma Ibtikar.

The first prize for top distinguished women of 2008 was awarded to wife of Ajman ruler, Sheikha Fatma Bint Zayid Bin Sager Al-Nahayan, award for best working woman in the media sector was granted to Khadeeja Al-Muqanaa from Al-Jazeera network, best woman figure in leadership role award was granted to Amna bin Hindi from UAE and Hanaa Zuhair from Saudi Arabia.

Al-Subeeh told KUNA, this award is an honor for Kuwait, adding that Kuwaiti women have accomplished greatly in the fields of medicine, engineering, science, education and others.

Al-Subeeh affirmed that Kuwaiti women's achievements are an honor for current and future generations, stressing that the Kuwaiti people are very knowledgeable and eager to develop and excel.
