Kuwait: Muna Al-Fuzai attacks parties of endangering national unity

KUWAIT: Columnist and District 3 candidate Muna Al-Fuzai recently disclosed that democracy in Kuwait is being severely jeopardized by certain parties.

She said such attacks endanger the national unity which the state desperately needs at this crucial and sensitive time. Male and female citizens alike are being targeted to fall into the pits of riots and political corruption.

"Such events infringe on the democratic and national principals that all Kuwaitis stand for," she explained.

Offenders also challenge the government's authority by holding primaries that are incriminated by law. They violate the law and encourage sedition through publishing election lists based on sectarian tribes and political groups.

These people are adamant in dividing the small Kuwaiti society and put women on a marginal list - whether as candidates or voters. They encourage political parties and pledge their allegiance to certain persons - not the state. They also incite people in creating one crisis afteranother and direct honest citizens into a black tunnel that has no safe passage out.

She explained that democracy underlines the importance of abiding by the law, supporting those in power and respecting the opinions of the majority. The constitution provides proper channels for all those who wish to voice their objections, she said. The political leadership also encourages and guarantees freedom to all citizens within the democratic statuettes since the state's establishment.

She called upon all citizens to abide by the laws, stay away from controversial issues and refrain from going along with the 'crowd.' In a press release copy received by this newspaper, she called upon HH the Amir to intervene, and through his usual wisdom put an end to all attempts at divisions within the society.
